We’ve recruited people with diverse facial hair types and shaving preferences to test our picks long term. For an update to this guide, James tested the revamped Braun Series 5, 6, and 7 models for a month. Following the same procedures as the original panel of testers, he compared each new Braun’s performance against that of the others as well as our budget pick. As I mentioned previously, I consider the Series 3 to be the entry-level pick for most users, including men (and teenagers) looking to buy their first electric shaver. Unfortunately, because of the very basic cutting system comprised of a single foil element, the performance of the Braun Series 1 simply won’t be good enough for most users. But considering the above-mentioned limitations, along with the fact that some Series 1 models cost almost as much as the (better) Series 3, make the Series 1 a rather difficult shaver to recommend.
